Account of John Taborer bailiff from the feast of St Alban 4 Richard [II] to the feast of St John the Baptist next following and from the feast of St John up to the same feast [of St] John in the 5th year of the same King.

Arrears The same answers for arrears of the last account in 8s.11½d.

Rents and leases  The same answers for 100s.9d. from rents and leases of the term of the Nativity of St John the Baptist.  He answers for nothing for all other terms to come in this year because by Thomas Alderman Collector there by the Prior’s assignment.  And for 24s. from instalments of rent of Christmas term contained in the time of this account and not more because the rest by Thomas Alderman.

Cost of buildings  The same accounts in 1 thatcher hired to roof the buildings there with straw ad tascham 7s.10d.  And in a roofer in stone hired for roofing buildings there with stone 5s.8d.  And in 100 bordnails bought 6d.  And in 300 laths bought 13s.  And in 1000 nails called lathenail bought 15d.  And in 100 stones and partitions[2] 2s.8d.  And in making 1 oven for the same ad tascham 22d.  And in 1 carpenter hired for making several building repairs 18d.  And in 30 spikes[3] bought for the granary 3d.  And in a carpenter hired for 10 days at his own food for doing several necessary tasks there 3s.  And in nails bought called spyking’ 5d.

Cost of carts and ploughs  The same accounts for 2 ropes bought called Woderopes 12d.  And in 1 pair of traces bought 8d.   And in repair of collars 6d.  And bread ale and meat bought for 4 ploughmen for sowing hares there for 1 day 12d.  And in shoeing 3 carthorses for the time of this account with iron clamps for carts 16s. 4d.  And in 1 cartrope and ropes for foot workers 2s. 6d.  And in 4 cartclouts bought 10d.

Purchase of grain The same accounts in 3 qtrs of wheat bought for harvest 22s. at 11d. per bs.  And in 1 qtr of wheat bought for grout malt for harvest 5s. at 7½d. per bs.

Threshing and winnowing  The same accounts in threshing 80 qtrs of wheat threshed ad tascam as over 20s. that is 3d. for a qtr.  And for 138 qtrs of barley threshed ad tascam as over 23s. that is 2d. for a qtr of barley.  And for 25 qtrs of oats threshed ad tascam as over 3s.1½d. that is 1½d. for a qtr.  And in 3 qtrs 4 bs. of beans threshed ad tascam as over 10½d. that is 3d. for a qtr.  And for 13 qtrs 4 bs. of peas and hares threshed ad tascam as over 3s.4½d. that is 3d. for a qtr.  And in winnowing the said grain threshed above 2s.8½d.

Wages of the famuli  The same accounts in the wage of 1 bailiff per annum é18s.ù[8]  And in the wage of 1 carter for a year and one term 9s.  And one swineherd for the same time 5s.6d.  And in the wage of 1 cowherd from the Nativity of St John at the first beginning of the time of this account up to Christmas 3s.6d.

Barley  The same answers for 138 qtrs 2 bs. of barley threshed ad tascam of issue of the grange by the same measure.
