Arrears The same answer for 18s. from arrears of Thomas Locke éof Fertonù[1] from last year as in the foot of the same account shown as arrear of the time of Robert Fo[ghle] late rent collector there in the 9th year last past.

Rents of assize And for £13 18s. 11¾d. including 71s. 4d. from leases of land once  Fyvehydes p.a. as is shown in a certain [rental] made the day before the feast of St James 32 Henry VI.

Payment of rents From which are allowed to the same accounting official rent collector there as in rents paid to the lord King for lands and tenements within the liberty of Portsmouth 53s. 4d.  And in rent payment made to the lord King for a plot called Mylborgh’ for a certain windmill p.a.[2]

Lapsed rents And in allowance for lapsed and decrease of rents of lands and tenements charged above of the said £13 18s. 11¾d. in the heading for rents because they cannot be raised this year £8 8s. 4½d. from leviable rents as they say on their oath and thus in allowance of rent this year 110s. 7¼d.

Wages And in wages of Richard Byckley rent collector for his office this year 6s. 8d.  And in wages of John Bover Bailiff there in part payment of his wages for last year 6s. 8d.

Harvest costs And in wages of the said Richard hired with his cart to carry the lord’s grain there in harvest this year 20s.  And in wages of John Berne and Robert Fowle hired with their carts for carrying the same grain for the same time each 18s.  36s.  And in wages of the said Richard for ploughing 18 acres of land there this year by the lord’s order 12s.  And in wages of William Dosch’ and the said Richard hired with their carts for carrying straw to the churches of Portsmouth and Portsea by agreement with 20d. for carrying straw outside Stubbington grange to the Grave there éthis yearù[3]   3s. 4d.    And paid to the same Richard for binding and reaping 2½ acres of land in harvest time this year 2s.  And paid to several people for weeding 11 acres of wheat and barley by the ésaidù[4] accounting official’s oath this year 3s. 4d.

Burgess expenses And in costs of the burgesses at Parliament at London last year by the accounting official’s oath 11s.

Geese  And for 5 geese remaining.  And for 25 geese received from the said geese issue.  Total 25.  Of which sent to the lord at Southwick 6 geese.  And in household expense there by the lord’s order 4.  Total 10.  And 15 geese remain.

Ducks And for 7 ducks remaining.  And for 6 ducks of the said ducks’ issue of which 3 were used by the lord’s order.  And sent to the Cellarer 10.  And nothing remains.

 

Peacocks And for 8 peacocks remaining there for stock over 5 peacocks.  And sent to the lord for household stock 5 peacocks and over 2 peacocks which died this year.  And 8 peacocks remain.

 

Hemp And for 3 lbs of hemp remaining.  And for 4 lbs of hemp from tithe of Eastney this year.  And 7 lbs of hemp remain.
